An investigation is underway after jailers discovered a missing inmate at the Orleans Justice Center.
"During routine deputy headcount rounds in the OJC facility, inmate Duy Nguyen could not be accounted for in his assigned housing unit," the sheriff's office said in a news release.
It says that the deputy on duty notified the ranking officer and warden.
"An immediate search was initiated to locate the inmate."
Turns out they apparently forgot Nguyen across the street.
"The inmate was located inside a secured holding cell in the section of Court where he had been scheduled to appear the day before."
OPSO says when they found him, they brought him back to the jail.
"He was examined by medical and mental health staff and served a meal. The OPSO Investigative Services Bureau was directed to open an investigation into the events and circumstances that led to this error."
