The latest COVID numbers form the Louisiana Department of Health show a spike not seen since September.
Today the LDH reports, 2,205 new COVID cases in the state since yesterday. Eight new deaths were reported with 272 people hospitalized and 35 patients on ventilators.
“The cases include all age groups, though the majority are among younger age groups -- 21% of cases are among children ages 17 and younger, 23% are among ages 18-29, and 20% are among ages 30-39,” the LDH said in a tweet.
Health officials say 81% of parishes are now at “substantial” or “high” risk of COVID spreading in their communities.
