Friday, March 1st marks the date that some parking rates are Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.
Erin Burns, Director of Communications fir the Aviation Board, says rates will increase for short-term garage, long-term garage and the surface lot, all of the parking options next to the terminal.
These are the first increases since 2019, prior to the Covid pandemic.
However, she says the airport is contractually "obligated to adjust the rates every two years" with their parking operators
Burns says, "The short-term garage will go from $22 a day to $26 a day, and the long-term garage will go from $20 to $22 a day and the surface lot will go from $18 a day to $20 a day.
The economy garage maximum daily rate will remain at $12, while the valet rate will hold steady at $36 as the maximum daily rate.
She says the first-half hour is free in both the short-term garage and the surface lot, but remains at $4.00 for the long-term garage and economy garage. Each half-hour after that will increase to $3 an hour from $2.
Burns says, "Despite all these increases our parking rates are still below some of our comparable parking facilities at other U.S. airports that we've looked at."
She says the parking fees fund operation of the parking facilities, and the revenues from parking go to the airport's budget.
