New Orleans Police say a driver hit a pedestrian Friday evening who was trying to cross Chef Menteur Hwy. The pedestrian died in the wreck.
"At about 6:47 p.m., NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a pedestrian struck at the location," said police in a statement.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult male lying in the roadway," the NOPD said. "The victim was declared deceased on scene."
According to the police, the driver remained on the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
