Hurricane Zeta is expected to make landfall possibly as a Category 2 or a strong Category 1 storm.
Zeta is packing 90 mph winds, which makes it a significant wind-threat over a rain-threat for parishes like Plaquemines Parish.
“The rain and the storm surge is concerning of course, but it is not as concerning as the wind,” said Plaquemines Parish President Kirk Lepine. “The wind can knock trees, knock branches down, of course knock power out.”
With Zeta's strong winds Lepine says Entergy expects there to be widespread power outages in the parish.
“They don’t really have an estimate of who will be out or how much will be out but they do have the resources ready to go,” said Lepine.
Forecasters say Zeta is a fast moving storm and will be long gone by Thursday morning.
