A 1-year-old is among four people injured after a police chase ends with a crash in Lakeview.
It happened late Monday night according to Louisiana State Police. The chase started in the 7th Ward when troopers attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle.
As WWLTV reports, troopers say the driver suddenly sped away, leading police on a chase before it ran a stop sign and hit another car at the intersection of Milne Boulevard and Harrison Avenue.
"All of a sudden — out of the corner of my eye, off to my left — in one of the lanes to my left, this black car came probably going 80, 90 miles towards West End and Pontchartrain," a witness told WWLTV. "I'd guess there were probably a dozen troopers following the car. It was crazy."
A 1-year-old was unrestrained in the suspect’s car at the time of the crash. The child was taken to the hospital along with the suspect, the other passenger, and the driver of the other vehicle hit in the crash.
The suspect and passenger are said to have ‘moderate’ injuries while the child’s condition is unknown at this time.
