Cops say a woman shot her adult daughter dead, then took her own life as an emergency operator listened.
"The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an apparent murder/suicide which occurred Tuesday (October 18) morning at a residence in the 700 block of Lane Street near Mandeville," Sergeant Suzanne Carboni.
It was around 8:30am that she says the mother called police.
"A woman called 911 and told an STPSO dispatcher she had just shot her daughter and that she was going to shoot herself. The dispatcher then heard what appeared to be a gunshot."
Carboni says deputies got to the home near Pelican Park to find two bodies.
The St. Tammany Parish Coroner's Office identified the mother as 43-year-old Tara Book and the daughter as 23-year-old Brittany Buras.
