Louisiana Election Day is in six months, and there is going to be a lot of turnover this year in some of the state's top offices.
The governor is term-limited. The attorney general and state treasurer are running for governor. The insurance commissioner and secretary of state are not running for reelection.
Political analyst Pearson Cross says this happens from time to time.
"Every so often they do a 'musical chairs' and you get a bunch of new faces in there," said Cross.
This many open seat for statewide positions will get a lot of attention from ambitious politicians.
"If you win one of those offices you're going to have a very high profile statewide," Cross said. "You'll be in good position to make a launch for another statewide office, perhaps lieutenant governor or maybe even the governor's seat."
Cross says that is the big prize, so this may be the start of a political feeding frenzy.
"There's lots of sharks," said Cross. "There's blood in the water, there's lots of sharks looking for a position."
