After last night's Mayoral Debate, UNO Pollster Ed Chervenak says don't look for any big swings in candidate support.

"People who watch debates, they have some baseline interest in politics already," the political science professor told WWL's Tommy Tucker. "If they are well informed or they are loyal to a candidate, the debate is not going to make a while lot of difference."

Chervenak says nothing happened that he thinks will significantly change recent poll numbers.

He says Helena Moreno has been polling strong enough to win in the October 11th primary, with Oliver Thomas and Royce Duplessis trailing far behind.

"People are looking for substantial change.  A lot of people feel like we are at a tipping point, and we need to get this mayoral election right or things will continue to spiral downward - people will continue to leave."

The UNO polling team will do another survey this weekend.

"She seems to have a little bit of momentum, so we will see of she can continue that momentum."

If so, she can win the race without a runoff.
