This weekend is one you’ve been waiting for if you’re a fan of strawberries and all things strawberry related. The Ponchatoula Strawberry Festival will be the place to be on the Northshore, with vendors and musicians onhand to offer their very best to attendees. Louisiana Agriculture Commissioner Mike Strain advises those who want to attend the event to show up early if they want a place to park, because visitors from all over the state will be in town for the festivities.
The festival begins tomorrow at noon and runs until 10pm.
Saturday will feature a parade that will run through Ponchatoula beginning around 9am and the good times will continue until 10pm as well. Strain says they expect roughly 100,000 people to attend the parade. Sunday from 10am until 7pm, the festival continues and will take over all of downtown Ponchatoula. The festival is kid-friendly, so feel free to bring family of all ages to try tasty treats, listen to local music, and enjoy a parade.
Commissioner Strain emphasized when speaking to WWL’s Tommy Tucker that these products are brought in by local farmers and attending the festival is a great way of supporting Louisiana culture. With locally sourced food, music from Louisiana musicians, and a downtown parade in the heart of Ponchatoula, it’s a great way to get invest in your home state.
