Five Louisiana institutes of higher learning report their internet systems were potentially invaded on Friday.
This prompted the schools to shut down their internet service to thousands of students.
Those affected are University of New Orleans, LSU Agricultural Center, Nunez Community College, River Parishes Community College, and Southern University at Shreveport.
WWL-TV reports UNO shut down access to its campus internet, Wi-Fi, UNO email, Moodle, Workday, and PeopleSoft.
The university says it’s working with the Governor’s Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness and Louisiana State Police to deal with the potential security breach.
