The second half of the 2026 Louisiana high school football season is here, and it begins with some New Orleans-area schools moving their games to Thursday as a tropical storm churns in the Gulf of Mexico.
Because of the threat of Tropical Storm Isaias, the following games have been moved from Friday night to Thursday:
- Riverdale at Bonnabel (at Joe Yenni Stadium)
- Edna Karr at John Curtis (at Muss Bertolino Stadium)
- Jesuit at Chalmette
- St. Augustine at Holy Cross (at Pan American Stadium)
- Hammond at Slidell
- L. W. Higgins at Warren Easton
- Terrebonne at Hahnville
- Destrehan at Thibodaux
Meanwhile, the the Friday night lights will continue to shine across the rest of the state as district competition ramps up. In Class 3A, the teams ranked at number one and number two in this week's Louisiana Sports Writer's Association poll will meet on the gridiron, while the two top-ranked teams in Class 4A will take the week off to reset for the final four weeks of the season.
We'll preview all of this week's games and discuss how Tropical Storm Isaias is impacting this week's schedule on the Week 6 edition of the Pelican State Prep Football Preview.
