New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced Monday that President Joe Biden approved her request for Mardi Gras 2025 to receive a level one Special Event Assessment Rating.
The level one designation allows the city to tap into additional federal resources. The Super Bowl, set to be played at Caesars Superdome next month, has received the level one label ever since the terror attacks on New York City and the Pentagon on September 11, 2001.

The city will receive extra help from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in the form of field intelligence teams, explosive detection K-9 teams, cyber risk assessments, venue screenings, and other measures, NOLA.com reports.
"Mardi Gras 2025 is going to be the safest ever," Cantrell said.
