Speaking before the seventy plus year old Calcasieu River Bridge Thursday, President Joe Biden made an impassioned speech for the rebuilding and rehabilitation of America’s infrastructure.
The President chose to come to a state, which is a Republican stronghold in Congress, to highlight two examples of public projects in desperate need of rehabilitation or outright replacement.
Earlier today, the President was in Lake Charles to talk about his American Jobs Plan against the backdrop of the Calcasieu River Bridge, a mid-20th century relic that is still in service despite being in seriously decrepit condition and more than two decades beyond its operational life span.
Later he toured the hundred year old Carrollton Water Works and Power Plant of the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board.
Biden was taken on a personal tour by Water Board head Ghassan Korban and Mayor LaToya Cantrell.
Though expected to make a speech after the tour Biden calmly departed the facility and made his way back to Louis Armstrong International and Airforce One.
