Grand Island, NY (WBEN) Grand Island town board members were told on Tuesday Project Olive was on pause. Word came from the developers. Project Olive is believed to be an Amazon regional distribution center.

"That's all I have from the applicant," says Supervisor John Whitney. "I have nothing formal, so we'll have to interpret what that means." Whitney says he's concerned about the project going to either Niagara County or Genesee County. "It's a real concern. It's a possibilty that if it goes to Niagara County, we'll still get truck traffic because 90 percent of it will be going south."

Whtiney says this was the developer's decision. "The town board is keeping an open mind. We have not made any decision, and we have to wait until we have all our information before making a decision for or against this project," notes Whitney.

Whitney says while there is a group of residents opposed, he's also heard from residents who are vehemently for it. Whitney says since TC Buffalo's announcement, people are now coming out in favor of the project.
