Construction on the largest project ever tackled by the Costal Protection and Restoration Authority is set to begin "very soon" according to CPRA head Chip Kline.
Kline told WWL’s Tommy Tucker the Lake Borgne Marsh Creation project in St. Bernard Parish near Shell Beach and Hopedale will help restore 2,800 acres of marshlands lost to the Mississippi River Gulf Outlet Canal, or MRGO. The project will create about 4.4 square miles of marshland by dredging the Lake and shifting 13 million cubic feet of material.
The 61 million dollar project is paid for with BP Oil Spill funds.
