On Monday, the International Association of Chiefs of Police and New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell announced who the three finalists in the race to become the city's next police superintendent are. Thedrick Andres, Anne Kirkpatrick, and interim NOPD superintendent Michelle Woodfork are those finalists. They will undergo a background check and one-on-one interviews with Cantrell before she selects her nominee for the position.
Mayor Cantrell's office has released the résumés of the three finalists. Below are those résumés.
MICHELLE WOODFORK
Highlights:
--NOPD officer since 1991
--Served an Orleans Parish criminal sheriff's deputy for 18 months before joining the NOPD.
--20 years of supervisory experience, including eight months as interim superintendent.
--Master's degree in criminal justice from Southern University at New Orleans
ANNE KIRKPATRICK
Highlights:
--Former police chief in four different cities (Ellensburg, Washington; Federal Way Washington; Spokane, Washington; and Oakland, California)
--Former bureau chief in the Chicago Police Department; was a candidate for police chief there in 2016.
--FBI Law Enforcement Executive Association Master Instructor
--Holds a law degree from Seattle University Law School
THEDRICK ANDRES, SR.
Highlights:
--Former police chief, Henderson, Nevada, a city just outside of Las Vegas
--Spent 13 years with the Arlington, Texas, Police Department, including four years as a commander and lieutenant.
--Worked in the NOPD from 1998 through 2005, including the time during and immediately after Hurricane Katrina. Was a sergeant of the narcotics division and community-oriented policing division.
--Master's degree in criminal justice from Southern University at New Orleans
