Report: Army Corps provides pumps to battle NOLA East fire

New Orleans East Fire

The United States Army Corps of Engineers is assisting in the effort to put out the marsh fire in New Orleans East near Bayou Sauvage.

According to WWL-TV, the Corps, at the request of Governor John Bel Edwards, loaned five pumps to the New Orleans Fire Department for use in putting out that wildfire.
Department and Sewerage and Water Board officials worked to install those pumps on Monday and got water flowing into the burning area by the end of the afternoon.

A cold front that’s expected to push through Southeast Louisiana later this week could bring rain, which officials hope will help to extinguish this and other fires burning in the region.
