A conservative campaign to boycott one of America’s most popular beer brands over a promotion with a social media influencer is having real world repercussions on the livelihoods of some Louisiana workers, according to a new report.

A number of right-wing voices have urged fellow conservatives to boycott Bud Light over the past two months, a backlash that stems from the beer’s promotional partnership with Dylan Mulvaney, a trans social media influencer.

As a result, Bud Light sales have seen a sharp decrease over the course of the campaign.

Now, that decline in sales is apparently resulting in the loss of Louisiana jobs, according to a new report by WRAL.

The report states that, while no official reason was given, the sales decline is the catalyst for the closure of two glass bottling plants run by the Ardagh Grou, one of the world's largest glass producers.

The closure of the plants – located in Wilson, North Carolina, and Simsboro, Louisiana – will leave nearly 650 out of a job, including 245 in the Pelican State.

The report states that Bud Light was a major contractor at both plants, which will be shuttered on July 17.
