One of the candidates for New Orleans Police Superintendent has reportedly taken a police chief job in Texas.
WWL-TV reports Thedrick Andres will take the job of chief of the Cibolo, Texas police department next month.
Andres is a former New Orleans Police officer who most recently was the chief of police in Henderson County, Nevada. He had resigned from the post after police union members there gave an overwhelming vote of no confidence.
He was also involved in the shooting death of a man in Dallas in 2014. Andres shot the man after getting into a fight on a party bus. An internal police investigation cleared him, and a grand jury refused to issue an indictment.
Interim NOPD Chief Michelle Woodfork, former Oakland Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick, and former Albuquerque Police Chief of Staff David Franklin remain in the hunt for the NOPD job.
