Report: Moreno eyeing selling of city properties to fill budget hole
WWL

Could real estate owned by the city of New Orleans be the ticket to getting the city out of its budget crisis?

Mayor Helena Moreno thinks so.

WWL-TV reports that the Moreno Administration is pivoting towards selling some of the city's real estate to bolster the city's coffers. Moreno issued an executive order creating a specialized task force of real estate experts to audit some of the city's holdings, including a few well-known downtown landmarks. Those include the Saenger Theatre, the former International Trade Mart which now is home to the Four Seasons Hotel, and the Caesar's Casino.

Moreno also is targeting the old incinerator site in New Orleans East and the old fourth district police station in Algiers for redevelopment.
