Louisiana State Police is now investigating a Texas law firm and an Alabama construction contractor over what state officials call the largest home insurance fraud in the history of Louisiana.

According to a WWL-TV report, state troopers are looking into the dealings of McClenny Moseley & Associates and Apex Roofing & Restoration in the aftermath of Hurricane Ida. A state police report filed last month says the New Orleans based Insurance Fraud/Auto Theft Unit is leading the investigation based on a prior investigation by the Louisiana Department of Insurance. The report also says investigators have already interviewed 25 Apex customers, who told authorities that McClenny Mosely collected insurance money on their behalf even though they never hired the law firm to represent them.

In May, the Louisiana Department of Insurance fined McClenny Mosely partners James McClenny, Zach Moseley, and William Huye $2 million for what Insurance Commissioner Jim Donelon called an “illegal insurance scheme.”

According to the WWL-TV report, investigators began their case by exploring five cases in St. Tammany Parish. Among the charges Apex and McClenny Mosely could face are insurance fraud, forgery, bank fraud, and unlawful solicitation by attorneys.
