A student at West Jefferson High School is in the hospital after being shot during dismissal today.
According to Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office Sgt. Brandon Veal, the shooting happened around noon across the street from the school as students. Veal says students were dismissing from the final day of school early when the shooting happened.
Veal says the victim suffered a non-life-threatening wound. He remains in the hospital, where his conditions is reportedly stable.
The case remains under investigation. Veal says detectives have not developed any suspects or possible motives yet.
