A woman is in the Jefferson Parish Jail after she allegedly stole a Louisiana State Police unit and crashed it after leading troopers on a chase.
The incident happened Saturday night in Metairie.
According to Troop B spokesperson Trooper Kate Stegall, a trooper was investigating a crash in the Clearview Mall parking lot when a woman not involved in the crash jumped in a trooper’s car and sped away.
Another trooper who was at the scene of the crash then began pursuit.
The woman crashed the stolen cruiser near the intersection of Veterans and Bissonet Drive near Interstate 10. That’s when troopers arrested her.
Stegall says neither the woman who stole the car nor any troopers were injured during the incident.
The suspect’s name has not yet been released. Trooper Stegall said she expects to release that information, as well as the woman’s charges, on Sunday.
