The folks at the Sewerage and Water Board are putting on a smiling face as they get ready for what appears to be an active Hurricane Season.

Friday, city officials said the department’s energy generating problems are fixed for the time being and they are confident they will be up to the task.

Even Mayor LaToya Cantrell boasted, “Power generation for Sewerage & Water Board, we're approaching the best we've ever been.”

According to WWL-TV, the city has three turbines available to adequately run the drainage system even though that is down from five.

However, there are five portable generators known as EMD’s that are ready at a moment’s notice.

“It's a fragile system,” said Ramsey Green, deputy chief administrative officer for infrastructure, spoke at a press conference. “These are old machines, and you well know that. But we have been vulnerable for a little while here. And we were very focused on getting this stuff up and running by the bulk of hurricane season, which we're tracking toward.”

S&WB also says there are 97 of 99 drainage pumps at the ready as of Friday.
