The New Orleans Sewer and Water Board had to abandon their initial plan to do emergency repairs to a water main line in the uptown area.
S&WB crews started to repair the water main this morning but a few hours into the repair the utility had to stop work because water pressure had dropped to the upper floors of a nearby medical facility.
“Crews reversed emergency water main closures after the upper floors of a medical facility lost water pressure. Pressure is fully restored. We are exploring alternative ways to isolate the damaged water main for future repair; stay tuned for updates,” said S&WB in a tweet Monday.
Repair crews will work to find an alternative way to make the repairs that won’t drop water pressure too much to nearby businesses and homes.
