Severe weather is on its way to the New Orleans metro area. Much of the city is under a flash flood watch.
Speaking at his weekly media update, New Orleans Communication Director, Beau Tidwell says the Sewerage and Water Board has 97 of the city’s 99 Drainage Pump Stations are operational for today’s severe weather.
One of the pumps in Lakeview is down for maintenance the other pump down is in New Orleans East.
“We are anticipating potentially experiencing some severe storms this afternoon. Strom winds, heavy rain is possible…a flash flood watch goes in effect at noon… three to five inches of rain is possible through Thursday,” said Tidwell.
Tidwell says five of six electric generators are available. He warns residents living near the Carrollton Water Plant should expect loud noise as the electric generators fire up to supply need electrical power to the pump stations.
