Saints/Cardinals: A must win in the desert

Saints/Cardinals: A must win in the desert
USASI

The time for losing is over, tonight’s match up in Phoenix is a must win for the New Orleans Saints according to NFL Analyst and WWL Sports Host Mike Detillier:

“Arizona’s not a good football team, though I think Arizona feels the Saints aren’t a good team.  So, you gotta come up with a ‘W’ here, but if you lose, the season still is salvageable.  But, man it’s going to be a tough road.  It’s going to be a tough mountain to climb, because this is game you must win.”

The two teams have identical 2-and-4 records putting them in the bottom half of their respective divisions.  Detillier talks about what this game means for New Orleans.

“This is a must win for the Saints.  There’s no question about it.  If you lose, is the season salvageable? Yes because you’re looking in the mirror when a lot of teams are looking right back at you in the same sort of record.  But, this is a game you should win.”

Should the Saints falter at Arizona tonight, the season will not be over, just tougher to make the playoffs when dealing with the likes of a surging Falcons and tough, but beatable Buccaneers.

“Everybody’s kind of looking at themselves.  But the surprise is how average Tampa Bay has been and how good the Falcons have played,” Detillier says.  “They really played hard.   They’re not a really talented team, but they figured out a way to win.”

Detillier says the Saints are pretty beat up, the injuries are challenge to the team, but not a death sentence.

“You’re talking about your top three receivers out for this game, no Michael Thomas, no Jarvis Landry, no Olave last week, hopefully he’ll be back.  You lose Andrus Peat as starting offensive guard, no Adam Trautman, you’re facing a lot of injuries, but a lot of teams in this league are doing the same thing.  You just got to figure out a way to win.”
