With their first game of the NFL preseason days away, the Saints pack up and head out west to Irvine, California to prepare.
Saints fans are still waiting to find out who has the edge in being this season's starting quarterback.
An official depth chart released by the team doesn't offer many clues, but Locked on Saints podcast host Ross Jackson says second-year man Spencer Rattler has looked the best in the three-way contest between him, Jake Haener, and rookie Tyler Shough.
"I just think that he's the guy so far that has shown to be the most consistent and the most prepared, which makes the most sense, because he's gotten the most NFL starts out of the trio," said Jackson. "Somebody that has just kind of taken that next step, mentally, which is what you usually expect to see in a quarterback making that leap from the first year to second year."
Jackson says he expects new head coach Kellen Moore will have a better idea of who the starter will be come September 7 after the preseason game, which is Sunday at 3:05 p.m. You can listen to the game on WWL.
