Deuce: 'There's a sense of urgency' in Saints organization

New Orleans Saints owner Gayle Benson said yesterday that if the team doesn't make improvements soon, things in the organization will have to change.

What exactly does that mean for the Saints' players, coaches, and executives?

"(It means) I have to go out and do my job," Saints radio analyst and former Saints running back Deuce McAllister said. "There's a sense of urgency of things that you have to get done and things that have to change as far as what you're doing and the expectations."

According to McAllister everyone on Airline Drive understands Benson's message. McAllister said it's a different message because it came not from the head coach or the general manager, but from Benson herself.

"Very rarely will she come out and publicly speak during the season," McAllister said. "I think it just shows the level of frustration and the expectations."

McAllister said all the Saints have to do is show some type of improvement to satisfy Benson, especially in regards to eliminating penalties and turnovers.

"No one is saying you have to go and compete for the Super Bowl, but you want to be able to show improvement, and so far, it's been stagnant as far as improvement is concerned," McAllister said. "You look at the record, and you look at some of the opportunities you didn't close on (during) the homestand of three games, and you didn't win one of them, it's one where (you say), 'Hey! Guys! We've got to play better.'"
