St. Bernard Sheriff’s are searching for a person they've now identified as suspect in the fatal shooting that took place Thursday night in Chalmette.
Chalmette resident Kelan Sartin, 18, is wanted for second degree murder. He was previously wanted for possession with intent to distribute marijuana and illegal possession of a firearm while in possession of a controlled dangerous substance.
Deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 7:30pm Thursday.
Arriving at the scene on Golden Drive near the intersection with Genie Street, they found 14-year-old down with multiple gunshot wounds.
The victim was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
During the course of the investigation, detectives with the Criminal Investigations Bureau determined Sartin to be a person of interest in the shooting.
The investigation is ongoing.
