Congressman Steve Scalise of Jefferson is headed back to Capitol Hill for another term.
The Republican has represented much of Southeast Louisiana since 2008.
Scalise was facing three opponents with little name recognition or experience.
He defeated Republican Randall Arrington of Ponchatoula, No Party candidate E. "Liddy" Glass of Metairie, and Democrat Lauren Jewett of Metairie.
The 61-year-old has been House Majority Leader, the second highest position in House Republican Leadership, for the past two Congressional sessions.
Scalise served as House Majority Whip from 2014-2018 and as House Minority Whip from 2019-2022, where he was responsible for unifying the Republican Conference as legislation moved through the House of Representatives.
