Louisiana Treasurer John Schroder today sent a letter to supporters say he is running for governor.
The Covington Republican says he will hold his kickoff campaign a month from today on the Northshore.

Schroder says, "We have suffered long enough for our reputation as a politically corrupt, crime ridden, unhealthy and uneducated state."
Louisiana Lt. Governor Billy Nungesser, also a Republican, is expected to announce tomorrow if he will run for governor.
Republican Attorney General Jeff Landry already launched his campaign.
There is no word of any well known or well financed Democrats considering a run.
Incumbent Democrat John Bel Edwards is term limited out of office.
The primary election is in October.
