Scoot: Archdiocese commits sin by firing gay music teacher

Priest scandal

How can the Archdiocese of New Orleans - which protected Catholic priests as they had sexual encounters with innocent little boys - fire a teacher because he’s gay? How does this make sense in the eyes of God?

Mark Richards was employed as a music teacher for 22 years at St. Francis Xavier Catholic School on Metairie Road until an individual brought the death of Richards’ husband to the attention of the archdiocese. Then, Richards, loved by his students, was fired because he is gay.

There is a morality clause in contracts between teachers and Catholic Schools, but it seems that in light of the guilt of the Catholic Church in New Orleans when it comes to allowing priests to have sexual relations with young boys that the archdiocese should not have fired Richards for being gay.
