America’s royal couple appears to be getting married over the Fourth of July Weekend with, at least, a reception set for Madison Square Garden.

Major hints that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are planning of tying the knot Friday, July 3rd include:

  • Requests for streets to be blocked off in the area around Madison Square Garden.
  • The permit requested includes a tent or canopy outside of the venue.
  • Requests for space for trucks to load and unload equipment, decorations, or whatever at Madison Square Gardens.
  • Plans for a small event with about 100 people on Thursday, July 2nd and a larger celebration with about 1,000 guests on Friday, July 3rd.
  • Some players with the Kansas City Chiefs has already made hotel reservations at the Marriott Marquis at Times Square.

Taylor Swift has made New York City her primary home and since she was a little girl - has fantasized about performing at Madison Square Garden. Tay-Tay has long had an emotional bond with MSG.

The arena has private entrances for key celebrities to enter secretly and is known for providing security for major concert and sporting events. PEOPLE.com reports that MSG has no events between July 29th and July 6th. The first event following July 6th is Bon Jovi in concert on July 7th.

The clues that some kind of event is being planned at Madison Square Garden on the weekend Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce plan to get married - but it is possible that the couple could actually exchange vows somewhere else and the Garden is being reserved for a celebrity-ladened reception.

It is interesting that there are plans for a smaller event for about 100 people on July 2 and a larger event for about 1,000 people on July 3. The capacity for Madison Square Garden is between 18,000 and 22,000 - depending on the type of event scheduled. With MSG being prepared for just 1,000 guests on July 3rd - it’s obvious that Tay-Tay is not planning to invite her fans. In fact - there is no hint that indicates Taylor is planning to invite her fans.

Could all of this be a smoke screen for the wedding and reception to take place somewhere else - anything is possible - but it does appear that a Swift/Kelce wedding is planned for July 3rd with a reception for about 1,000 guests to follow.

So, why are Americans so interested in a Swift/Kelce wedding and reception?

America has become a celebrity-oriented country and with the help of social media and celebrities often posting aspects of their personal lives - we get the feeling that we personally know these celebrities. We certainly know a lot about Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce.

And the other attraction to having interest in the lives of celebrities is simple escapism from the daily news and maybe the idea that we can vicariously live through the lives of the celebrities we like.

A text came into my talk show on WWL in New Orleans yesterday that read: “No one cares about Taylor Swift.” Yea, that’s right - no one cares about Taylor Swift. That’s why she’s arguably one of the biggest celebrities in the world.

Not everyone cares - but a lot of people do care about Taylor Swift and a Swift/Kelce wedding and we will know soon whether the hints out there are true.
