A second arrest has been made in the case of a murdered Good Samaritan in Baton Rouge.
Jayce Lambert has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with an incident on May 8 that led to the death of Hayes Sellers, according to an East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office arrest warrant.
Investigators say Sellers was trying to break up an argument between Lambert and an unidentified woman after leaving a nightclub near a parking lot in the 2100 block of Nebraska Street.
Sellers’s involvement in trying to calm the situation down drew the ire of Lambert, who then tried to goad Sellers into a fight. When Sellers tried to avoid the physical confrontation, he was struck by a second assailant, Edmond Revelle.
Revelle emerged from his car to strike Sellers in the head with a closed fist. The punch knocked Sellers unconscious, causing him to hit his head on the concrete as well.
Revelle and Lambert fled the scene of the incident and made no attempt at either providing any aid for Sellers or calling for help.
Sellers was eventually brought to the hospital but surgery to alleviate swelling and bleeding in the brain were ultimately unsuccessful. He succumbed to the injuries caused by Revelle’s blow to his head on May 15, one week after the altercation, according to the autopsy report.
