President Biden's ban on Russian petroleum imports creates not just an opportunity but a need for Louisiana-produced energy, says Senator Bill Cassidy. He wants the administration to commit to more domestic production.
"We're going to play a critical role with our workers, our economy, our export facilities," said Cassidy.
Cassidy says to offset the impact of the Russian oil ban, the Biden administration needs to be open to more domestic fossil fuel production. And the senator told WWL's Newell Normand that if a coronavirus vaccine can be developed in less than a year, we can work just as fast with speeding up domestic energy production.
"If we have an Operation Warp Speed for producing Louisiana and American energy, to be able to supply it to ourselves and others, then we can have an impact," he said.
