Police in New Orleans continue to search for cop impersonators who robbed two people earlier this week.

Professor of practice in criminal justice department at Loyola, Ronald Serpas, has tips on what you should do if you are pulled over and don’t feel safe.

“If you are being pulled over at a time or place you feel uncomfortable and the vehicle pulling you over doesn’t immediately have all the markings of a police car, get on the phone call 911 immediately, follow all the traffic rules and drive to a well lit location,” said Serpas.

If you do not have a cell phone with you and get pulled over Serpas says drive to a well-lit public location like a gas station or a strip mall where you can pull over safely.

As carjackings in New Orleans spike, Serpas has this tip to keep you safe.

“Never sacrifice your personal safety for personal property or equipment,” said Serpas. He says these days there are security cameras everywhere and suggests simply complying, let the thieves take your vehicle and leave it to the police to catch the carjackers because it is not worth the danger.
