Seven people are now in custody in connection with a deadly weekend shooting that left a Hammond High School student dead.

Four teenagers, aged 16, 17, 17, and 18, are facing second-degree murder charges in the death of Leonard Williams, 16. Travis identified the 18-year-old as Jaylan Williams, of Hammond. On Sunday on Facebook, deputies identified one of the 17-year-old suspects as Bradney McGary. The four teens are also facing obstruction of justice and other charges.

A third 17-year-old, whom deputies have not named, is facing a principal to second-degree murder charge.

Ella Bickham, 64, is facing an obstruction of justice charge after deputies say she withheld information about the case from investigators for more than 16 hours.

Corey Williams, 18, is facing charges after deputies say he started a fight with crime scene investigators and took a gun from the scene.

According to Chief Jimmy Travis of the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s office, the shooting happened during a birthday party at a home on St. Paul Loop. Travis says investigators believe the incident happened after another teen went to the home after seeing a social media video of his girlfriend dancing at the party. According to Travis, the boyfriend went to the home with a group of his friends and got into a fight with his girlfriend.

The boyfriend, Travis says, left the party and later returned. According to Travis, the boyfriend shot at a car occupied by party guests whom deputies believe returned fired. In all, investigators believe more than 30 rounds were fired during the shootout. Deputies believe Travis was struck by a stray bullet.

The case remains under investigation. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-554-5245 if you have information.
