State Police: Seven people killed in two suspected drunk driving crashes in two days

Over the weekend, seven people were killed in suspected drunk driving crashes says the Louisiana State Police.

The first happened at around 8:00 p.m. Friday night in Terrebonne Parish. Troopers responded to a reported two-vehicle crash on LA Highway 182 near LA Highway 660 in Houma.


The crash claimed the lives of Charles Triggs, Jr., 42, of Raceland, Danon Fulwiley, 21, of Raceland, Corey Porter, 23, of Raceland, and Ariana Lachico, 25, of Houma.

According to the LSP investigation, Triggs was driving eastbound on LA Hwy 182 in a 2014 Honda Accord when he attempted to pass another vehicle at a high rate of speed in a no-passing zone.

After crossing the centerline, Triggs struck a 2018 Honda Accord driven by Lachico head-on.

Lachico and Fulwiley suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. Triggs and Porter were transported with severe injuries and both later died at the hospital.

The next day, on Saturday, three teens from Nicholls State University were killed in a fiery head-on crash in Lafourche Parish. All three teens from Luling were killed. The driver, believed to be the one who caused the crash, was arrested with his now fourth DWI.
