A line of severe weather blew through overnight and early this morning.

As of 8:00am, power was out to more than 12,000 customers in the region.


The highest number was in St. Tammany and Jefferson parish with lower counts in Tangipahoa, Washington, St. John, and Orleans.

There were spotty outages elsewhere.

The worst of the weather has moved offshore.

WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone says there could be some more storms the rest of the day.

"Partly cloudy skies for the rest of Saturday. A few pop-up storms will still be possible Saturday afternoon and evening, with rain chances around 30-40%. Sunday looks similar with a 30-40% chance for showers and storms and highs in the mid 80s."
