A LaPlace man shot his brother, critically wounding him, after an argument about rules of their mother's house, officials with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff's Office announced.
Glenn Irvin, 37, was booked on aggravated battery, motor vehicle theft, and other charges.
Roy Irvin Jr., 55, is in critical condition at University Medical Center.
According to Sheriff Mike Tregre, the two brothers got into an argument late Tuesday night over their mother's house rule barring uninvited guests. One of them accused the other of breaking that rule, and the argument escalated into the younger Irvin shooting his brother, NOLA.com reports.
According to the sheriff's office, after the shooting on Carrollwood Drive, Glenn Irvin fled the residence, and stole a car in Edgard early Wednesday morning.
Deputies arrested Irvin without incident when they pulled him over in the vehicle at a gas station on Belle Terre Blvd., authorities said.
The sheriff says deputies recovered a gun believed to be the one used in the shooting, after an individual called the sheriff's office to report a gun discarded on a canal bank on Greenwood Drive in LaPlace.
