Cops say a man died in jail on Easter morning in Jefferson Parish, and it appears he killed himself.
"Sheriff Joseph Lopinto reports that the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating an in-custody suicide that occurred this morning at the Jefferson Parish Correctional Center," Sergeant Brandon Veal said in a news release.
He says around 7:00 am, deputies discovered the unresponsive adult male inmate.
"He was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead."
Veal says that the investigation remains active.
"There is no additional information available for release at this time."
