Shooting along Bacchus parade route, 5 victims

Gunfire rang out on St. Charles Avenue as the Bacchus parade passed Sunday night.

New Orleans Police report five people were shot. The victims are three males and two females. One is a juvenile. One of the men died.

"All were taken to the hospital by EMS where one male victim was later pronounced deceased. The other four victims are reportedly in stable condition."

NOPD Spokeswoman Karen Boudrie said in an email that cops took someone into custody.

"One person was initially detained at the scene in connection with the incident. Investigators say they believe that person was the shooter.

It happened near the corner of St. Charles Avenue and Terpsichore Street.

Boudrie said the call came out at 9:30pm.

Video from the scene showed police initially stopping the parade, then allowing floats through without any spectators in the crime scene.
