After two St. Tammany Parish teenagers are found shot in New Orleans East, St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s detectives and SWAT team members assisted New Orleans Police in locating a 19-year-old man they say is responsible for shooting two teen girls and dumping their bodies on Chef Menteur Highway near Venetian Isles.

On Thursday, Detectives with the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit worked with the NOPD to identify and locate Jordan Mitchell of Slidell.

The New Orleans Police Department secured a warrant for Mitchell’s arrest on two counts of Attempted Murder.

“At approximately 5:30 a.m. Thursday, a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl, both from St. Tammany Parish, were found after they were shot and dumped near the intersection of Marques Road and Chef Menteur Highway in the Venetian Isles area of New Orleans East. They were brought to an area hospital with critical injuries,” said Sheriff Randy Smith in a statement.

Shortly after 7 p.m. on Thursday, members of the STPSO SWAT team and the STPSO Major Crimes Unit took Mitchell into custody at his parent’s home in the French Branch area of Slidell.

Mitchell has been booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center as a fugitive.

The joint investigation is ongoing and may result in additional charges.

“I am happy to be able to assist the New Orleans Police Department in identifying and arresting the person responsible for this heinous crime,” Sheriff Smith said. “And I will continue to offer up our resources and assistance to help them when crimes like this affect our community.”
