Slidell Police say a 16-year-old caught a bullet in the shoulder as another teen was making a video for social media.
Police say they were called to the home on Pontchartrain Drive late Saturday night, where they were told 18-year-old Jarvion Evans was with several others, making a video for social media when the gun Evans was handling went off, striking the 16-year-old.
The victim was taken to the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery, according to police. Officers said Evans fled the scene.
A short time later, Police say Evans contacted them and surrendered.
"Firearms are not toys, nor should they be treated as props for social media," said Slidell Police Chief Tommy Williams. "We are fortunate that this incident did not result in an even greater tragedy, and we wish the victim a full and speedy recovery."
