A popular 2000s-era commercial extolled the virtues of putting pizza on a bagel because, as the jingle went, you could then have “pizza anytime.”
Is the same true about gumbo if you put it on a pizza? One Facebook user is apparently aiming to find out.
A Facebook account attributed to Ceddie’s Kitchen: Seasoned with Love has gone viral in south Louisiana thanks to a recipe for gumbo pizza.
It stands to reason that Ceddie would have come by this combination honestly. She describes herself online as a “home chef living in North Carolina with Louisiana roots.”
Ceddie’s gumbo pizza utilizes a dark roux to use as the pizza’s sauce. WARNING: Because it’s being used in a pizza, she does throw some tomatoes in, but cautions those watching that this is not something she would normally put in a gumbo roux, lest anyone commence to fainting on the spot.
After spreading the roux on the pizza dough, she tops it with cooked chicken, crab meat, shrimp and sausage, as well as seasoning.
