Several New Orleans restaurants have been honored in the new American South edition of the Michelin Guide. It may be harder to get a table at some of your favorites.
Emeril's received two stars, which is unusual for a restaurant making its debut in the Michelin Guide. Two other New Orleans restaurants, Saint Germain and Zasu, received one star each.
These were already among the city's top restaurants, so a Michelin star, while prestigious, may not make an impact on everyday diners, but there were plenty of other places featured in the guides "honorable mentions."
"Probably the most interesting part of the list are the restaurants that don't have stars, but are recommended for different reasons by Michelin," said NOLA.com food writer Ian McNulty.
In addition to the coveted star rankings, the guide also has it's "Bib Gourmand" level, and then restaurants that receive a recommendation.
"That's the sweet spot for a lot of people," said McNulty. "That's not the really expensive 'tasting menu,' but it's showing these are restaurants that are really all over New Orleans at all different price ranges and styles that are up to the Michelin standard which is a global standard for great cooking."
