Some of the CCC lights go dark ahead of final finish

The Crescent City Connection Lighting project was just about to cross the finish line when a glitch in the system caused part of the display to go dark, and subsequently postponed a planned ribbon cutting ceremony that was to take place at the port.

However, all is not lost and the project won't need to push against any deadlines even with the hiccup.

Daniel Gitlin, Public Information Officer for the DOTD, says the design of the lights allows for easy fixes.

"It's designed so that if a section of lights goes out, the entire display doesn't have to go dark."

The display will get some fine tuning over the next few days and the ceremony postponement might just end up a win-win.

"The contractor actually asked for the time to go back in and thoroughly look over everything. Since finishing ahead of schedule they can do that. We also weren't able to confirm the attendance of key officials at the ceremony due to being in Baton Rouge."

Gitlin says he wants the public to rest assured that this type of attention to detail is a guarantee of the type of product the department wants to deliver.

"We want the people of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana to know that we are going to make sure our products live up to the highest standards."
