New Orleans Police are warning the public about a scam.
Authorities say someone claiming to be with the NOPD calls victims and tells them they have a warrant for their arrest.
Similar scams in other jurisdictions involve the caller offering to clear the victim's record by accepting a payment.
Officials say, "NOPD will never contact you by phone to handle or resolve a warrant."
NOPD advises hanging up and calling police to report the scam.
